the scenery on the leg to the WA NT boarder was amazing with Gills Pinnacle and the ranges on both sides of the road provide plenty off photo ops
We also stopped by one off Lens blasé trees with the replica plaque for the Sandy Blight Junction road. A lot of the original plaques are on display with the grader.
after the compulsory stop at the border we pushed east on a deteriorating road past Docker RIver to Lassieters cave, we had no luck finding his reef of gold!! Would have been nice.....
We made it the Olgas in the mid afternoon and had a walk through the gorge area before heading back west to camp just outside the national park for the night, we had a great view from the campsite of the sun set at the Olgas whilst having dinner and wine.

I can still remember standing at the lookout at 6am watching the sun come up behind Ayers Rock and shining on the Olgas, and the colour of the Olgas changing dramatically over the hour or so as the sun rose higher into the sky. Fond memories of the nights we camped out under the stars with no natural light from anywhere, watching the millions of stars and all the satellites and shooting stars. Wish I was out there with you . I'm glad dad (Herb) is out there with you.
